Today's greyhound tips from expert Michael Smyth who provides greyhound predictions, previews and analysis for upcoming races.
For racing taking place at Towcester Saturday 14th June
All eyes on Towcester this evening for the £175,000 Star Sports / TRC English Greyhound Derby final live at 9.15pm.
Tickets are available from the Greyhound News UK website. Get down to Towcester for the family funday, Bjorn Again concert and of course and thrilling action that’ll be taking place on the track from 5.44 onwards. All the action will also be live on the Gone To The Dogs YouTube channel.
Double landed yesterday with Coppice Survivor (7/4) and Hogans Hawk (10/3) both winning well. Let’s move onto today with a couple more that should go close at Towcester.
The Derek and Mark Burridge Trophies race at 6.51 can go to KEEFILL MAVERICK from T4. The Doncaster raider has plenty of early pace, if he traps in best fashion and hits the back straight a couple clear its race on. Derby semi finalist Droopys Bookem will be staying on well from T3. Tiffield Tarquin (T6) could be the one to challenge our selection into the corner, the Irish raider is capable of popping out as he showed in the early rounds of the Derby. March On Freddie (T4) is a class act, he will be staying on well and could be worth including in forecast and tricast bets.
6.51 Towcester Greyhound Betting Tip – KEEFILL MAVERICK (T4) – 1 Point win at 4/1 with Bet365
A little later on look out for ALRIGHT GORDY who runs from T6 in the Star Pelaw Stakes open race over the six-bend 712 metre trip. All eyes will be on potential six-bend superstar Romeo Empire from T3 here, he steps up in trip for the first time and could be anything. The bookies are taking no chances, Pricedup go 4/7 about the Patrick Janssens trained runner and that’s the standout price. At 4/1 I’m with Gordy. Well-drawn as the solo wide seed the Oxford raider could win this from the front of if he turns with them. Newinn Cloud rates as a danger from T5, he’s a consistent performer and will be there or thereabouts at the business end.
7.10 Towcester Greyhound Betting Tip – ALRIGHT GORDY (T6) – 1 Point win at 4/1 with Bet365
It’s then all eyes on the Star Sports English Greyhound Derby final at 9.15.
Five runners from Ireland with just the one representative from the UK.
Droopys Plunge (T1) was available at 25’s on Monday before the Derby draw, that looks value now. He’s well-drawn and could go close.
Sole Mio (T2) could lead round, if that happens its race on. He’s likely to step off at lid rise and needs to avoid a bump.
De Lahdedah (T3) defending champion, can win from the front or if turning handy. The Liam Dowling trained superstar is in with a shout of going back-to-back and would be the first to do so since Westmead Hawk in 2005-2006.
Bombay Pat (T4) I wouldn’t put anyone off backing Pat at a huge 20/1, he more than capable of trapping out and making all.
Cheap Sandwiches (T5) needs to smash out and lead round. Running up in the Irish Derby to Bockos Diamond last year and runner up in the semi-finals last week to his kennelmate again. If he can reproduce the flying 3.97 sectional recorded on the 17th May in the second round of this competition he could make all and land the £175,000 prize for connections.
Bockos Diamond (T6) all eyes on the Irish superstar here. He often traps half a length behind and then roars into the corner and down the back straight. If Bockos gets it right at the boxes this could be all over bar the shouting.
