Windsor Racecourse is located on the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire and is one of just two figure-of-eight courses in the UK with the other being Fontwell Park.

Just a short distance from Windsor Castle, members of the Royal Family are often seen visiting the racecourse.

Windsor hosts a handful of notable races throughout the year but is also a popular location for weddings, concerts, car shows, festivals and private events in the 165-acre Berkshire countryside.

Windsor Racecourse

Windsor Racecourse is a figure-of-eight flat track which makes it rather unique. Because of this, horses have to travel both left and right-handed when completing a full circuit.

The straight track hosts races of up to six furlongs in distance and is level throughout.

Windsor Feature Races

The Royal Windsor Stakes is the featured race at York Racecourse each year and takes place in May over a distance of 1 mile and 31 yards. It was introduced in 2000 and is a Listed flat race that is open to colts and geldings aged three years or older.

With the racecourse hosting so many non-racing events throughout the year, the racing calendar at York is not as busy as at some other courses. However, some other notable races include the Leisure Stakes in May, the Midsummer Stakes in July and the August Stakes & Winter Hill Stakes which both take place in August.
