This page has today's Pontefract race card, live Pontefract racing results, the 2026 fixtures and our Pontefract racing tips, along with a full guide to the West Yorkshire Flat track.
Pontefract Park has staged racing since at least 1648, and its two-mile circuit is the longest continuous Flat circuit in Britain. It's a left-handed, undulating track with a stiff uphill finish, so stamina and a good draw both matter.
The season runs from April to October, with Ladies Day at Ponte Carlo in August and the Listed Silver Tankard closing the year.
The Pontefract race card today shows every runner and rider, the draw, recent form, the latest odds and race times. It updates from final declarations right up to the off.
Non-runners, jockey changes and going updates appear as soon as they're announced. Tomorrow's Pontefract race card is added once declarations close.
Pontefract racing results are added as each race is settled, with winners, starting prices and payouts. Yesterday's results and earlier meetings stay on the page.

If you're looking for Pontefract racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
Pontefract is a left-handed, undulating circuit of about two miles. It was a mile-and-a-half horseshoe until 1983, when it became a full circuit.
That change made it the longest continuous Flat circuit in Britain. It also allows marathon races of more than two and a half miles.
There's a sharp bend into the home straight, and the final three furlongs climb all the way to the line. Horses head downhill to some of the starts, which can upset keen types.
Low draws usually have the advantage at Pontefract, because horses on the inside save ground round the sharp home bend. In sprints, a quick start from a low stall is a big help.
The going is usually good or good to firm in summer, but it can turn testing in spring and autumn. Check the going report on the morning of racing.
Pontefract stages five Listed races a season. The Pontefract Castle Stakes, over a mile and a half, is the highlight, and Brown Panther won it in 2012 and 2013.
The Silver Tankard Stakes, a Listed race for two-year-olds over a mile, closes the season in October. It was the first Listed race run at Pontefract, in 1993.
The other Listed races are the Flying Fillies' Stakes, the Pomfret Stakes and the Pipalong Stakes.
Ladies Day, known as Ponte Carlo, is held in August. In 2026, it was on Wednesday 5 August, with a Best Dressed Lady competition.
The Family Day is held on Father's Day in June, with racing and activities for younger racegoers. Under-18s get in free in every enclosure at all meetings.
Racing in Pontefract dates back to at least 1648, shortly before Cromwell's forces took the town's castle. Racing then stopped for many years before townsfolk revived it in 1801.
During the Second World War, Pontefract was one of the few northern courses to keep racing, and it hosted big races such as the Lincoln and the November Handicap.
For decades, meetings started at 2.45pm so that miners from the nearby colliery could attend after their morning shift. That continued until the colliery closed in 2002.
Here are the leading trainers at Pontefract over the last three years:
Danny Tudhope leads the jockeys with 25 winners, followed by Jason Hart (20) and David Allan (16).
Pontefract Racecourse is at Pontefract Park, Park Road, Pontefract WF8 4QD, on the north-west side of the town.
Tickets range from about £6 to £28, depending on the enclosure and the meeting. There are discounts for pensioners, students, Blue Light Card holders and advance bookings. Under-18s go free.
You can buy tickets online or at the gate on the day, by cash or card. The course has step-free access, lifts to all stand floors and a sensory room.
Pontefract racing is shown live on Racing TV. Most UK bookmakers also offer free live streaming of Pontefract races to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race.
Pontefract's big-field handicaps attract plenty of betting interest, and the draw bias makes the market interesting. Best Odds Guaranteed means you get the starting price if it's bigger than the price you took.
Extra place offers are worth looking for on the bigger handicaps. Compare the latest offers from UK bookmakers before you bet.
The next meeting is the Season Finale on Monday 19 October 2026, featuring the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes.
Ladies Day at Ponte Carlo is held in August. In 2026, it was on Wednesday 5 August.
The Family Day is held on Father's Day in June. In 2026, it was on Sunday 21 June.
Tickets range from about £6 to £28, and under-18s go free in every enclosure.
The circuit is about two miles long, making it the longest continuous Flat circuit in Britain.
