Paddy Power

Paddy Power Review

Everything you need to know about Paddy Power

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power was founded in Dublin in 1988 and has grown to become one of the most well-known betting brands in the UK. With land-based betting shops in the UK & Ireland, quirky and often controversial advertisements and regular betting offers, Paddy Power is a favourite for many UK bettors.

Paddy Power merged with online sportsbook, casino and betting exchange Betfair in 2016 and the company is now one of the biggest in the world.

In this Paddy Power review, we’ll be taking a look at whether or not Paddy Power’s service matches the efforts they spend on advertising and whether or not you should sign up. If you’d like to leave your own review or view Paddy Power reviews left by other visitors, scroll to the bottom of this page.

Welcome Offer

The Paddy Power welcome offer isn’t the biggest in terms of free bets but is worth signing up for. Instead of a ‘Bet & Get’ offer which the majority of bookmakers offer new customers, Paddy Power have opted to offer a risk-free first bet. By ‘risk-free’, Paddy Power mean that they will refund the stake of your first bet as cash up to the value of £20 if it loses.

Claiming the Paddy Power welcome offer is easy but you do need to remember to enter the Paddy Power promo code when registering. This is extremely important as if you don’t enter it, or enter it correctly, you will not be eligible for the refund should your first bet lose.

When registering an account with Paddy Power, enter the promo code YSKA00 in the registration form. Then, once your account is created, you simply need to make a deposit of £20 or more and then place a bet. If your bet loses, you’ll receive a cash refund up to £20.

When you make your initial deposit, you must use either a debit card, credit card or PayPal. All other deposit methods are not eligible for the offer.

There are no minimum odds requirements for your initial bet and you can place it on any sport or market you wish.

Should you bet lose, Paddy Power will process your refund within 1 hour of your bet settling and the cash will be credited into your Paddy Power account.

If free bets aren’t your thing or you would like a genuinely risk-free shot at winning a bet, then the Paddy Power risk-free bet offer is perfect.

Sports & Betting Markets

Paddy Power covers pretty much every sport you can think of from obvious ones such as Football, Horse Racing, Tennis, Rugby, Greyhounds and Darts to less popular sports like Table Tennis, Cycling, Volleyball and Handball. You’ll also be able to bet on current affairs and the winner of TV reality shows.

We’re confident the vast majority of users will not be in the slightest bit disappointed with the variety of sports available to bet on at Paddy Power. We’ve listed a selection of them below.

  • Athletics
  • Aussie Rules
  • Badminton
  • Baseball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Current Affairs
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • E-sports
  • Football
  • Gaelic Games
  • Golf
  • Greyhounds
  • Handball
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Lottery
  • MMA
  • Motor Sport
  • Netball
  • NFL
  • Politics
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • Specials

As you would expect, football takes the main stage with Paddy covering matches from all around the world 24/7. However, being an Irish bookmaker, it’s no surprise that there is also a heavy focus on horse racing. You’ll find regular price boosts, money back specials and extra places being offered across a number of races, which has made Paddy Power a popular choice for horse racing enthusiasts.

There’s no shortage of markets either for the majority of sports. Football matches in major leagues and competitions often have well over 100 betting markets ranging from betting on the winner to which team will receive the first booking. There is also a lot of focus on #WhatOddsPaddy markets. These are custom bets compiled using bets from a range of markets. An example of a #WhatOddsPaddy market may be ‘Harry Kane to score first, 10+ corners in the match, Rashford to be carded & over 2.5 goals’. This allows customers to have more freedom over their bets and extremely high odds are offered for a lot of them.

In-Play Betting

If there is a live sporting event taking place, then it’s likely that you’ll be able to bet on it at Paddy Power. However, the range of in-play betting markets at Paddy Power isn’t as extensive as at some of the other top bookmakers. However, you’ll be able to bet on the more popular in-play markets such as match winner, correct score, over/under goals, next goalscorer and many more. For -in-play tennis betting, in-play markets include set betting, most double faults, most aces, set/point betting and more. There really are enough in-play markets available to please the vast majority of users.

Paddy Power offer live streaming across a range of different sports but when a stream isn’t available, customers can view the digital representation of current events. For football matches, it will show where the ball is, which team is attacking and if a corner, throw-in or free kick has been awarded. This feature can assist you with making a more informed in-play bet.

Along with the digital representation of the event, you can also view the statistics for the event taking place. Stats such as aces, double faults, % of first serves won for tennis are available and the number of corners & cards for football. Unfortunately, Paddy Power do not provide as many stats as some other bookmakers, especially for less-popular football matches but they can still be a big help if you join the match part way through.

Live Streaming

Paddy Power offers a free live streaming service for many sports including football, tennis, basketball and golf. These streams are free to watch proving that you have a funded Paddy Power account.

The streams which are available to you will depend on where in the world you are accessing them from as some events, such as Premier League football, may not be able to be streamed due to broadcasting rights. However, there are dozens of live streams available throughout the day from some popular leagues and competitions.

To view which streams are currently available, simply click on the ‘In-Play’ tab once you are logged into your Paddy Power account and then on the Play icon to open the stream.

If you’re interested in streaming live horse races then you’re in luck as Paddy Power provide streams for horse racing at racecourses in the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Australia, Singapore and the USA. The requirements to stream horse racing are slightly different to other sports as you will be required to place a bet with the exception of horse racing streams from the USA and RSA which are free to stream providing you have a funded account with a balance of £2 or more.

For all other horse races, you must place a bet with a stake of £1 or more on the race you wish to watch. This can either be a £1 single bet or a £0.50 each way bet proving the total stake on the race is £1 or more. For all other bet types, please see the table below for more information:

Although Paddy Power, as the majority of other bookmakers advertise their streams as ‘Live’, there is usually a slight delay of between 2-5 seconds. This should pose too much of a problem when betting in-play but if your stream does freeze or lag, we recommend you refresh the stream to ensure it is as up to date as possible.

Streams for all sports can be accessed on desktop, mobile or tablet. We found the streams to load very fast and be of good quality.

Customer Service

The Paddy Power customer support team are on hand to answer any questions 24/7. Support is available via email, phone or live chat and the response time via all three channels is usually very quick.

Live chat is usually the best option for quick questions as you are usually connected to a support agent within a matter of seconds and they are very knowledgeable and quick to respond. If you would prefer to talk to someone directly, a free phone number is available to customers in the UK & Ireland or if you have a question you think may have been asked before, you will most likely find an answer in their help section which contains answers to the more frequently asked questions around account issues, free bets & promotions, deposits & withdrawals and responsible gambling.

Overall, we rate Paddy Power’s customer support very highly.

Paddy Power App

The Paddy Power App is available for both Android and iOS devices including phone &  tablets and is a must-have for anyone with a Paddy Power account.

With the Paddy Power app, you’ll have access to everything you would if you were accessing the site from a desktop or mobile browser except must faster. You can log in via the fingerprint scanner on your device to save you manually entering login information and you’ll also have the benefit of receiving push notifications which can come in handy when there are special offers, price boosts or other promotions available at short notice.

Navigation in the app is excellent and works just like the mobile website does. Individual sports can be accessed quickly via the  main menu and the homepage displays the latest offers along with current in-play markets and upcoming horse races.

Unlike some other bookmaker apps, you can access the Paddy Power Casino and Games sections directly in the app without having to open an external browser. You’ll also be able to check your progress of your participation in Paddy’s Rewards Club with the click of a button.

The Website

Paddy Power have one of the more user-friendly websites out of the top bookmakers. A list of sports is always visible allowing quick access to the sport of your choice and from within each sports category you’re able to filter the results by leagues/competition, outrights, in-play, starting soon etc.

The main section of the homepage is populated with in-play events as is the case with most bookmaker websites. Emphasis is towards horse racing which is no surprise with Paddy Power being an Irish bookmaker. A list of the days races are clearly displayed and we like that they show a selection of the horse for each race rather than just the meeting and the time.

You’ll also find the most popular and latest promotions on the homepage carousel along with  available ‘Power Prices’. Paddy Power run a lot of offers for existing customers and so pay attention to these when visiting as a lot of them have value.

Overall, we like the Paddy Power website a lot. The green theme that Paddy Power is associated with is pleasing to the eye and navigation throughout the site is extremely easy.

As you would expect from Paddy Power, cash out option are available on your bets. Cashout isn’t available on all sports or markets but you will be able to see which markets are before placing your bet by looking for the cash out symbol. To cash out a bet, simply head to your open bets and any bets which are eligible for cash out will have a corresponding cash out amount alongside them along with a cash out button. There is also the option to partially cash out your bets. This allows you to choose how much of your bet you would like to cash out and leave the remainder on the bet. The remaining bet will be replaced at the current odds. Other bookmakers which offer partial cash out can be found here.

Online Casino

Paddy Power provide customers with not only a sportsbook but Online Casino, Games, Vegas, Virtuals, Bingo, Poker and Fantasy sections. Individual sections are all integrated into one account and so there is no need to transfer funds across if you are switching from sports betting to playing casino games or a hand of poker.

The Paddy Power Casino hosts hundreds of online games from no less than eleven software providers such as Playtech, Cryptologic and IGT. Players can choose from over 200 slot games, a range of table games such as Blackjack, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Sic Bo, Hi-Lo and many more.

If you prefer a more real-life casino experience, Paddy Power also provide a Live Casino where you can play a range of games with real-left dealers, croupiers and hosts. Games such as Blackjack, Roulette, 3 Card Brag, Hold’em, Baccarat and Stud Poker are all available along with Live Spin A Win. There are a number of tables available for each game which should mean that you’ll be able to get a seat playing the game you wish at the stakes you want. We would like to see more ‘host’ games similar to Spin A Win available at Paddy Power such as Deal or No Deal or Monopoly Live but overall, there is still a good range of games.

Banking

Paddy Power don’t offer a huge range of deposit methods but the ones that they do offer should satisfy 99% of customers.

Currently, customers can use the following methods to fund their accounts.

Payment Method Min Deposit Withdrawal Time Processing Time
Debit/Credit Card £5 1-3 days Instant
PayPal £10 1-3 days Instant
Skrill £5 1-3 days Instant
Neteller £5 Instant
Paysafecard £5 Instant
Bank Transfer £5 2-5 working days

For iOS users, Paddy Power also accept Apple Pay. Apple Pay is only available through the Paddy Power App but provides a quick and easy way to fund your account. It also means that you don’t have to enter any of your card details as everything is connected to your Apple account.

When it comes to withdrawing your funds, withdrawals directly to bank account usually take 2-3 days whereas E-wallet withdrawals usually reach your account within a few hours.

Be aware that you may not qualify for some Paddy Power promotions when depositing via E-Wallets so always check the terms prior to depositing.

Below is a list of account settings available to Paddy Power customers.

Summary

Paddy Power do a great job marketing their brand and thankfully have a service to match those efforts. With a great website, regular promotions, online casino, games and poker sections and excellent customer support, they have everything you need from a betting site. We would like to see a few additional games in the live casino section and slightly better odds at times but putting them aside, they are a great choice of bookmaker.

No complaints about paddypower they are a decent enough bookie as long as you bet online. Not sure about the shops I think the staff could be better. But online is ok.

Get past all their jolly TV ads and at the end of the day they are decent enough. They do honour their bets, they do pay out, and they do have good odds. Not much to complain about.

Not as good as the adverts would have you believe. Sports betting is ok but the casino is rubbish to be honest and I think there are better apps out there from some of the other bookies.

PP is a good online bookie with good offers and odds. The liberal snowflakes are obviously going to get upset by their adverts and take offence at anything because they have absolutely no sense of humour. Personally, as a normal functioning member of society, I find them completely harmless and often amusing. Plus it should not really be relevant to reviewing their service.
