DINOBLUE would be one of my strongest fancies of the week again. I talked 12 months ago about how Mark Walsh will have learnt from the year prior where he lost out on getting first run and that cost him the race. A perfect ride in this race last year she showed her class, Allegorie falling marred the performance somewhat, but DINOBLUE had it won and this wouldn’t look to be as good a renewal. She has made a bad mistake in two of her three runs this season, we’ll all remember the Grand Annual where she landed on the second last fence and tried to run through the last. She has still never fallen though, and she was impeccable here last year.
She gets 2lbs from Spindleberry who has beaten nothing of note but has put up the closest RPR to DINOBLUE with her 160 on her penultimate start. She was pulled up last time out when tried in better company and over 3 miles. She give Panic Attack 3lbs but for all that she’s a mare in form and has won over this trip, surely needs further than this to shine and she’s not been in a race with the likes of a DINOBLUE so she won’t know which way they’re going and she’s official rated 12lbs inferior and she’s earned that figure through winning handicaps this season so she’s hardly unexposed anymore, especially at the age of 10
Back to DINOBLUE, she’s had her usual three prep runs with 159, 151 and a 163 recorded RPR’s which is better than her 154, 135 and 158 coming into this 12 months ago. She posted her career highest RPR of 163 in this 12 months ago followed by another Career high of 166 in Punchestown meaning since chasing she’s at least matched her best figures in the spring and typically she’s a few lbs better at Punchestown than here but she’s been a pointer shorter since racing in open company so absolutely now is the time to be on her and I think she looks incredible value at the prices
DINOBLUE – 3 STAR WIN @ 2/1

The Mares’ Chase is a Grade 2 steeplechase for mares that was introduced to the Cheltenham Festival in 2021. Run on the New Course over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs, the race is open to mares aged five and older. It is the newest addition to the festival’s race card and has quickly become a popular event with racing fans.
The Mares’ Chase features 17 fences to be jumped and requires a horse with great jumping skills to handle the testing course. The race has been won by some impressive mares in its short history, including Colreevy and Allaho.
The Mares’ Chase is a race that celebrates the talent and skill of female jumpers and provides a showcase for some of the best mares in the sport. The race is a major stepping stone for mares who are looking to make their mark in National Hunt racing and is a great opportunity to witness some of the most exciting young talent in the sport.
The Mares’ Chase is one of the newer additions to the Festival but has quickly become a race our racing analysts, Will Smith and David Young, take seriously, largely because the form in this division can develop rapidly throughout the season. Will and Dave follow the leading mares closely and are always on the lookout for one progressing a touch quicker than the market realises. Any 2026 Mares’ Chase tips they put forward will be based on solid form study and a clear sense that the price still holds value.
Ante-post picks aren’t guaranteed every year, but if Will or Dave feel a mare is being slightly underestimated by her current mark or recent performances, they won’t hesitate to put her up early. Once the field takes shape, you’ll also find race-day Mares’ Chase selections with thoughts on how the pace might unfold and which runners look best suited to the test.
It’s a race that occasionally features in Will Smith’s EW Lucky 15 during Cheltenham week, especially when he’s confident a mare is on the rise. Those Lucky 15s have produced impressive profits over past Festivals and remain a popular daily read for WhichBookie followers.

This race has followed a clear profile in its short history. Each of the first five winners was Irish-trained, aged either seven or eight, and had won last time out after Christmas at least at Listed level. All were rated in the high 140s or higher and had either won over 2m4f or placed in the race previously.
The betting has been a strong guide so far, with the first five renewals won by either the second or third favourite, and 3/1 the biggest starting price among them. Willie Mullins has played a major role, and runners carrying a Grade 1 penalty have held up well in the race.
The Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase is run over 2 miles and 4 furlongs.
It is a Grade 2 steeplechase restricted to mares.
The race was added to the Cheltenham Festival programme in 2021.
Yes, it forms part of the Friday card at the Cheltenham Festival.
