Fanteam

Fanteam Review | Sports | Markets | Odds

Fanteam is Europe's largest DFS service that has taken a unique approach. We're used to seeing online bookmakers offering services such as poker, bingo, lotto and casino but Fanteam have decided to go down the Fantasy Sports route. The main focus of the site is offering a first-class Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) platform where players can build teams for various sports leagues and events and win real cash prizes based on the number of points their players accumulate. On top of that, Fanteam also provide an online sportsbook where customers can place fixed-odds bets on a variety of events just as you would with a traditional bookmaker. Fanteam is Fantasy Sports mixed with online betting and we're excited to put this service through its paces in this review to find out more about what they offer.

What Is Fanteam?

Fanteam can be classed as two products.

  1. A Fantasy Sports Service
  2. An Online Bookmaker

Customers who register an account will have access to both products which will allow them to enter their fantasy teams as well as place real money bets on a variety of sports, events and markets should they wish to.

Fanteam is operated by Maltese company Scout & Co but originally was the creation of André Handrup and Andreas Ternström. The service was launched in 2014 and has attracted millions of customers worldwide who enjoy playing daily fantasy sports (DFS) and recently, Fanteam has become the official fantasy sports partner of Championship football club, Fulham FC.

fanteam welcome offer

Fantasy Sports

The main attraction to Fanteam is their fantasy sports offering of which they run the world’s biggest season-long game which has a guaranteed prize pool of £1,000,000 with a minimum of £200,000 going to the winner! However, there are games and tournaments that run every day to keep players entertained and have more chances of winning.

Season-Long Games

Season-long games are some of the most popular at Fanteam. Mainly because of the huge prize pools available as mentioned above. When entered, you act as the manager of your sports team and select players that you think will accumulate the most points in their real-world games.  Usual fantasy scoring applies with players receiving points for scoring goals and keeping clean sheets etc and points are updated in real-time on the site which makes watching the match and keeping an eye on the leaderboard often an exciting experience.

It does cost to make an entry, as you would expect with over £1 million in prizes being available. The 2021/22 season-long fantasy competition costs £20 to enter and there are several thousands of prizes available to entrants including for the top managers at the end of each week and month.

As well as Fanteams biggest season-long competition for the English Premier League, they also run games for other major tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League which has a prize pool of £250,000!

Daily Fantasy Sports

If season-long games aren’t enough to keep you entertained, there are new tournaments available on a daily basis. Some tournaments last for a single day, weekend or football match and with events taking place multiple times every day, there is no shortage of fantasy competitions to enter.

The advantage of daily fantasy sports is that there are several sports to choose from. If you’re into tennis, there are daily competitions available as well as for MMA, e-sports, basketball and several others.

Even the daily and weekend tournaments can have significant prize pools. This is especially true for the most popular Premier League competitions which hand out five-figure prizes regularly.

Player Matchups

Part of the Daily Fantasy Sports section includes ‘Player Matchups’. With this game, you are given a list of duels which each contain two players. You must choose a player to win the duel (accumulate the most points in their upcoming real-life event) and if you guess correctly, you can win up to 500 x your stake! There are duels available for several sports and leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, MLS, Russian Premier League and more.

Sportsbook

Being a bookmaker review site, it’s logical that we take a closer look at the Fanteam sportsbook to see what it has to offer and how it compares to some of the more established UK bookies. Of course, the main focus of the site is the fantasy sports offering which is understandable but the sportsbook is a welcome addition that will appeal to many who enjoy playing fantasy sports for real money as they will likely have an in-depth knowledge of football and other sports.

The Fanteam sportsbook covers nowhere near as many sports as bookmakers such as Bet365, Betfred or Betfair. In fact, currently, only Football, Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, Cricket and Baseball are available to bet on. Therefore, if you’re looking for a more complete coverage of sports with horse racing, darts, rugby and other sports available, you’re probably better sticking with one of the bigger bookies. However, if you mainly bet on football or the other sports that are available at Fanteam and enjoy playing fantasy sports, it could be the perfect place for you.

Odds

When determining the standard of an odds for any new bookmaker that we review here at WhichBookie, the first step is to compare them with those offered by some of the bigger bookies. We’re pleased to say that the odds available on several sports and markets at Fanteam held up well and we’re confident that there is value to be found.

Below are some comparisons of odds for a selection of sporting events between Fanteam, Bet365 and Paddy Power.

Chelsea v Villarreal (Football)
HomeDrawAway
Fanteam1.693.665.37
Bet3651.653.755.50
Paddy Power1.673.505.50
Andrey Rublev v Fabio Fognini (Tennis)
Player 1Player 2
Fanteam1.213.88
Bet3651.254.00
Paddy Power1.223.75
Baltimore Orioles v Detroit Tigers (Baseball)
HomeAway
Fanteam1.951.82
Bet3652.051.80
Paddy Power1.901.90

As you can see, the odds available at Fanteam are generally in line with some of the top bookmakers with some odds being slightly higher and some slightly lower.

Bet Limits

Bet limits won’t be an issue for many Fanteam users but they’re worth mentioning in case you are planning on making a large bet on the sportsbook. Firstly, the minimum bet on any sport or event is £1. Again, this won’t be an issue for most as it is a minimal amount but worth keeping in mind. Secondly, the maximum wager a user can make on any one bet in the sportsbook is £1,000. You may find that some of the larger bookies allow bets of higher amounts but if you are not planning on betting more than this, you won’t have an issue with limits.

In-Play Betting

Unfortunately, in-play betting is not available on any sports at Fanteam. The sportsbook is constantly being improved with new sports and markets being added regularly and so this could very well be a feature that is added in the near future.

As such, Fanteam do not provide a live streaming service of sporting events. This too would be a welcome addition, especially given that players may wish to watch football matches in order to see how the players that they have included in their fantasy teams are performing.

Betting Markets

Similar to their selection of sports, the number of available betting markets are slightly on the short side at Fanteam. For football matches, betting markets such as Match Result, Double Chance, Draw No Bet, Over/Under Goals, Handicaps, Half Betting and a handful others are available. There is a much greater choice at dedicated bookmakers but Fanteam do allow users to bet on ‘Fantasy Points’ in their sportsbook.

When betting on Fantasy Points markets, you are wagering on either how many points individual players or teams will accumulate during the match. It’s a nice touch from Fanteam and one that will appeal to fantasy sports players.

There are also nominated ‘Fantasy Duels’ available to bet on for each sporting event. With this market, two players are selected by the bookmaker and users can bet on which of the two will score the most fantasy points in their match.

Customer Service

If you’re new to Fanteam and are unsure of how an aspect of the site or service works, we strongly recommend visiting the support section of the site which can be accessed via the link in the navbar. This page contains answers to various FAQ which can be very useful to new users.

If you do need to get in touch with the team, support is available via both Live Chat and Email.

Banking

An excellent range of banking options are available to users of Fanteam for when depositing into and withdrawing from their accounts. As well as all major debit cards being accepted, several e-wallet options such as PayPal, Neteller and Skrill are available with the minimum deposit being £10 across all methods.

Available deposit & withdrawal options:

  • Debit Cards
  • PayPal
  • Neteller
  • Skrill
  • Paysafecard
  • ecoPayz

Summary

Fanteam classes itself as Europe’s largest DFS platform and it’s not hard to believe. With prizepools of over £1 million for some competitions and tournaments available several times every day, they have been able to grow to become the go-to place for fantasy sports betting. The addition of the online sportsbook is more than welcome and popular with users of the DFS service. There are improvements that could be made to the sportsbook to bring it in line with some of the more established ones but overall, Fanteam offer an excellent service and we here at WhichBookie fully recommend them for both your fantasy sports and sports betting needs.
